APOTHEOSIS

Temporary Exhibition at Palazzo Reale, Milano
Concept
It all originates from Ambrosia, a divine delicacy embodying the power of immortality and transformation, a nourishment exclusively reserved for the Gods that amplifying their power. The fantasy (films and videogames), born and influenced by ancient myths, has created a wide range of foods such as fruits, elixirs, and magical beverages, as well as foods belonging to our culture that become the main characteristic of our modern heroes. In this way, food takes on its own image and importance. By bringing themselves to the same level of importance as the protagonist, it triggers a reversal in the cultural perception of food. Over time, food has gradually lost its original function and has been elevated to an almost divine status. This growing emphasis has transformed food into an object of veneration within consumerist culture, turning it into an icon that is often appreciated more for its symbolic representation than for its actual nutritional value.
Exhibition set-up metaphor:
The "OLYMPUS" metaphorically indicates a place or a condition linked to the idea of superiority and privilege. The setup will propose a juxtaposition between the classical Olympus and the contemporary Olympus, where food becomes the protagonist. The visitor will pass through  three different spaces that mark the ascent of food. The transition from the first room to the second occurs through a point where food and contemporary idols reach a position of equal importance, each supporting the other.
