SOGNO ITALIANO AL FEMMINILE

Temporary Exhibition at Triennale, Milano
Concept
By the late 20th century, the condition, behaviors and image of Italian women had undergone a profound transformation. Women's access to all formal rights and their significant participation in various sectors marked the beginning of what is known as the "feminine revolution." This exhibition, offering a dive into the past, focuses on the analysis of emerging women, their freedom, and the iconic female figure from the 1960s to the 2000s through the worlds of cinema, music, and design.
The narrative is guided by selected products that have won the Compasso d'Oro award, including Gaetano Pesce's Up 50 armchair, Mario Bellini's Le Bambole armchair, the 1959 Fiat 500, and the Campari Poster from the 1960s. Through videos, film frames, photographs, and voices, these elements help visitors recall the famous faces that have made history in Italian cinema and music. Women have not only achieved freedom but have also gained greater social significance, becoming even more beautiful in their independence. today women express themself freely and prove to be more vibrant than ever.
The Compasso d'Oro Products
The armchairs reflect the inspiration drawn from the female figure in the design of products, considering their form, concept, and purpose. The Up 50, Gaetano Pesce's armchair is a true homage to women, emphasizing the desire to feel enveloped and protected by the maternal womb, with its sinuous shapes representing the challenging condition of women. Similarly, Le Bambole by Mario Bellini narrates the story of Italian women's emancipation in the 1960s and 70s, showcasing their strength and seductive power, embodied by the softness, roundness, and harmony of the forms.  Moving forward, the 1959 Fiat 500 designed by Dante Giacosa is introduced, designed for free-spirited women who want to travel and feel secure on the road. This car represents the image of a woman who independently engages in various activities. The last element in the exhibition is the "Donna Campari" poster by Depero, where the classic bottle transforms into a personified figure, resembling a running woman.
